Small Group Ministry

What is Small Group Ministry (SGM)?
Ongoing groups of six to ten that help build personal relationships, foster spiritual growth, engage participants in conversation about life issues and provide ways to serve the congregation and the community.

Why do we do this?
People in our congregation are seeking ways to develop their spiritual lives, to become better acquainted with others and to deepen their understanding of Unitarian Universalist principles and values.

How do these groups function?
Two hour meetings, usually twice a month, are held in homes. OUUC trained facilitators offer an opening reading, provide time for check-in and sharing, and facilitate conversation on a particular topic. Sample topics: the nature of our religious journey, forgiveness, what it means to be truthful, how fear impacts our lives, etc. The meeting includes a time for reflecting on the process and a closing reading.

How can I join a small group?
Contact our minister, Rev. Art Vaeni.
